Accessibility
We want every grown-up to be able to find their way round Scribble More, order a book and join Scribble Club, whatever they use to get about the web.
What we aim for
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA on the website. We're not there everywhere yet, and the list below says where.
What we checked
On 28 October 2026 we checked the home page, Make a book (every step), the Scribble Club page, gifts, a colouring-page guide, the name colouring page, Colour in, our policies, help, sign-in and an order page. We used an automated checker (axe) at desktop and phone width, went through Make a book with a keyboard only, worked out the colour contrast of text and buttons from the site's colours, and checked how the pages behave when a device asks for less motion.
What works
- You can make a book with a keyboard alone, from the first step to paying, and you can always see where you are.
- Text and buttons have enough contrast against their backgrounds.
- Pages fit a phone screen without scrolling sideways.
- Form questions have labels, and if something needs fixing, the message says what and is tied to that question.
- The short videos are silent, have a pause button and stay still if your device asks for less motion.
- The cookie question can be answered with a keyboard and doesn't trap you.
- The order page now updates its progress in place, so a screen reader doesn't lose its place while a book is being made.
What we still need to fix
- The cookie question comes last when you move through a page with the Tab key. We plan to move it earlier by the end of November 2026.
- The children's side (Scribblemoor, the games and colouring on screen) hasn't yet been checked with screen readers or switch access. Colouring and games are visual by nature, but we want to know where we can do better, and we'll publish what we find.
The app
Our iPad and iPhone app is coming soon. We'll add what we've checked in it here when it's out.
Ask for help or another format
If something is hard to use, or you'd like information in a different format, email [email protected]. Tell us the page and what happened, and we'll reply within 2 working days, usually sooner.
