Terms of sale

The short version: you see a free preview before you pay, prices include tax, Doodle Club renews until you cancel (and you can cancel any time from Your account), and if something we made is wrong, we'll put it right.

Our postal address is still being added to this page. Until it is, you can reach us at [email protected].

About these terms

  • These terms apply when you buy from mydoodleworld.com: personalised colouring books, Doodle Club and Doodle Club gifts. Please read them before you pay. When you pay, you agree to them.
  • They're written for grown-ups. My Doodle World is made for children aged 2 to 10, but children can't buy anything from us. A parent, carer or other grown-up aged 18 or over places every order.
  • They're for people buying for themselves and their family, not for a business.
  • Nothing in these terms takes away your legal rights as a consumer. If these terms ever say less than the law, the law wins.
  • Our privacy policy explains what we do with personal details, and our refunds page explains how to ask for your money back.

Who we are

  • My Doodle World (mydoodleworld.com) is run by Marcio Santos, a sole trader in the United Kingdom trading as Santos Media Labs. "We", "us" and "our" in these terms mean Marcio Santos, trading as Santos Media Labs.
  • Our address: [[ADDRESS]].
  • Email: [email protected]. We reply within 2 working days.

What we sell

  • Personalised colouring books as a PDF to print at home. Each book has the child's first name and a caption on every page. Depending on what you choose, the pictures come from our drawing library, or some or all of them are scenes drawn for this book from what you told us the child loves. You can add a Storybook, a short story that runs through the book, for an extra charge.
  • Printed books, paperback and hardback, printed and posted by our print partner, Lulu. These aren't on sale yet. The parts of these terms about printed books apply once they are.
  • Doodle Club, a monthly or yearly membership. It opens Doodle World and every colouring page at every level, for up to four children in your family.
  • Doodle Club gifts: 3, 6 or 12 months of Doodle Club, paid once.
  • Colours and sizes can look a little different on screen from how they print, depending on your screen, printer and paper.

Ordering and the free preview

  • You tell us the child's first name, their age or level, what they love and the size you'd like. We make a free preview before you pay, so you can check it.
  • Please check the preview carefully, especially the spelling of the name. We make the book from exactly what the preview shows.
  • If you choose "the whole book", we draw some of the pages for the preview and the rest after you pay.
  • Every page we draw goes through our checks: it has to be safe, clear and right for the child's level. If a page doesn't pass, we put a page from our drawing library in its place, so your book is always complete. The price stays the same.
  • Pages drawn from what they love are scenes mixing the things you picked. If you only pick from our list of themes, another child who picks the same mix may get the same scenes.
  • Our contract with you starts when your payment goes through and your order page says so. We may turn down an order before then, for example if it asks for something in "What we can't make" below. If we can't make your order after you've paid, we'll refund you in full.
  • If we ever show a price that is clearly wrong, we'll tell you before we make your order. You can then go ahead at the right price or cancel for a full refund.

Prices, tax and currency

  • We sell in pounds (GBP) and US dollars (USD). We show the currency that suits where you seem to be, and you can switch. You pay in the currency shown at checkout.
  • Our prices include tax (VAT, or sales tax where it applies). Before you pay, checkout shows the full amount you'll pay.
  • Doodle Club costs £3.99 a month or £29.99 a year ($4.99 a month or $39.99 a year). Gifts cost £11.99 for 3 months, £19.99 for 6 months and £29.99 for 12 months ($14.99, $26.99 and $39.99). Book prices are shown when you make a book.
  • If your bank charges a fee for paying in another currency, that's between you and your bank.

Paying

  • Payments on our website are taken by Stripe. You type your card details into Stripe's page, not ours, and we never see them.
  • For PDF books, Doodle Club and gifts, Stripe, through Link, is the seller of record (the "merchant of record"). Stripe calls this Managed Payments. That means Stripe takes the payment, charges and pays the tax, sends your receipt and handles payment questions such as disputes. Stripe's own terms for buyers apply to the payment. We still make and supply what you bought, and these terms still apply between you and us, including your rights to cancel and to have things put right.
  • For printed books, we are the seller and Stripe takes the payment for us.
  • A book is paid for when you order it. Doodle Club is paid at the start of each month or year, after the free trial if you have one.
  • You can add Doodle Club when you pay for a PDF book, in one checkout. The book is paid for straight away, and the Club starts with its free week if you can have one.
  • Purchases in our iPhone and iPad app are made through Apple. Apple takes the payment and handles cancellations and refunds, and Apple's terms apply to those purchases.

Getting your PDF

  • We start making your book as soon as you've paid. Your order page shows how it's going, and we email you a download link when it's ready.
  • The download link works for 72 hours. Please save the PDF to your device.
  • If the link runs out or the email doesn't arrive, email us and we'll send you a new link. We keep the book for 30 days after we deliver it, so please ask within that time. After that it's deleted, as our privacy policy explains.
  • You can send a PDF book as a gift by email, on a day you choose up to 60 days ahead. The link in their email works for 72 hours from when we send it. Every other email about the order comes to you.

Printed books

Printed books aren't on sale yet. When they are:

  • Lulu prints and posts them to addresses in the UK, the US and the European Union.
  • We check each printed book before it goes to the printer. Checkout tells you the delivery options before you pay, and the order page and our emails tell you how your order is going.
  • The book is our responsibility until it's delivered to the address you gave us.
  • If your book arrives damaged or doesn't arrive, tell us and we'll print and send it again, or refund you. We keep your order details for 90 days after it's posted so that we can.

Doodle Club

  • Your account. Doodle Club belongs to a grown-up's account. You add up to four children, each with just a first name and a colour. Please keep your sign-in to yourself.
  • The free trial. New members get 7 days free, once for each email address. We still ask for a card. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, your first payment is taken when it ends. Using a gift code counts as having had the free trial.
  • Renewing. Your membership renews by itself each month or year, and the payment is taken each time, until you cancel.
  • Cancelling. Cancel any time from Your account, with "Manage or cancel subscription". Cancelling stops the next payment. Doodle Club stays open until the end of the month or year you've paid for (or the end of your free trial), then it closes. We don't refund part of a month or year, except as explained under "Your right to cancel" and "If something is wrong".
  • Changing plan. You can't switch between monthly and yearly in Your account yet. To switch, cancel, then join on the other plan when your current one ends.
  • If a payment doesn't go through. Stripe tries again over about a week and emails you so you can update your card. Doodle Club stays open for 7 days after the failed payment. After that it's paused until the card is updated, and if the payment still can't be taken, your membership ends.
  • Price changes. We may change the price of Doodle Club. We won't charge you a new price without emailing you at least 30 days before the first payment at that price, and you can cancel before then.
  • What's in it. We add, change and sometimes retire pages, places and games. If we make a change that takes away a big part of what you joined for, you can cancel and we'll refund the time you've paid for and not used.
  • When it ends. Your children's pictures are kept for 30 days after your membership ends (counting any gifted time), then they're deleted. If you rejoin before then, they're waiting in their galleries. "Delete my account" in Your account deletes them straight away and cancels the membership.
  • The website and the app. One membership works on our website and in our iPhone and iPad app: join on one, sign in on the other with the same account. A membership bought on the website is managed in Your account. A membership bought in the app is billed by Apple and cancelled in your device's Settings, and Apple's terms apply to it.

Doodle Club gifts

  • A gift is 3, 6 or 12 months of Doodle Club, paid once. It never renews, and nobody is charged anything later.
  • You get a gift code by email and on the page after you pay, with a gift card to print. Anyone who has the code can use it, so please keep it safe.
  • Codes don't expire before they're used. Each code works once.
  • To use a code, the person you're giving it to signs in at mydoodleworld.com/redeem and types it in. The months start straight away. If they're already a member, the gift starts when the time they've paid for ends, and their next payment moves back to after the gift.
  • Codes are used on our website, not in the app. Once used, the membership works in the app too when they sign in there.

Your right to cancel

The Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 usually give you 14 days to change your mind about something you buy online. This is how it works for what we sell.

  • PDF books. A PDF is digital content, and we make it for you straight away. So when you pay, we ask you to agree that we can start supplying it at once, and to confirm that you understand you lose your right to cancel once it's ready to download. If you've agreed to that, you can't cancel once your book is ready to download. Until then, email us and we'll cancel and refund you in full. If you didn't give that agreement, you can cancel within 14 days of paying and we'll refund you in full.
  • Doodle Club. You can cancel within 14 days of joining. If you cancel during the free trial, you pay nothing. If a payment has already been taken in those 14 days, email us and we'll refund it in full, and your membership ends then. This applies when you first join, not to each renewal.
  • Gifts. You can cancel within 14 days of buying a gift and we'll refund you in full. If the code hasn't been used, it stops working. If it has, the person who used it keeps the time.
  • Printed books. Every printed book is personalised and made to your order, so the 14-day right to cancel doesn't apply to it (for something we print that isn't personalised, you'd have 14 days from delivery). If you change your mind, email us straight away: if your book hasn't gone to the printer yet, we'll cancel it and refund you in full.
  • None of this affects your rights if something is faulty or not what you ordered.
  • To cancel, email [email protected] with your order details or the email address you used. Any clear message saying you want to cancel is enough. We'll refund you within 14 days of hearing from you, to the way you paid.

If something is wrong

The law (the Consumer Rights Act 2015) says what we supply must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality, and that we provide our services with reasonable care and skill.

  • A PDF or Doodle Club. If it's faulty, you're entitled to a repair or a replacement. If we can't put it right within a reasonable time and without big inconvenience to you, you can have some or all of your money back. In practice: if your PDF won't open, has a mistake we made, or isn't what you ordered, email us and we'll fix it and send it again, or refund you.
  • A printed book. If it's faulty, damaged or misprinted, you can reject it within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. After that, you're entitled to a repair or a replacement, and if that doesn't work, a refund or a price reduction. Please send us a photo, and you won't need to post the book back.
  • If the preview showed a mistake in the details you typed, such as a misspelled name, that isn't a fault. Tell us anyway and we'll do our best to help.
  • If you're not sure, contact us first. We'll always try to put things right quickly.

Refunds

  • Every book has a free preview, so you can check names, captions and pages before you pay.
  • Refunds go back to the way you paid. Where Stripe is the seller of record, Stripe sends the refund.
  • A full refund of a Doodle Club payment ends the membership straight away.
  • If you bought a PDF book and Doodle Club in one checkout, a refund for the book refunds only the book. Your membership carries on.
  • For purchases made in the app, ask Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. If something went wrong with a book, please email us first and we'll do our best to put it right.
  • Our refunds page explains how to ask.

What we can't make

Our books and pages are for children, so everything you type has to be right for a child.

  • We can't draw characters or brands from films, TV, games, books or toys. We don't own them and we aren't connected to the people who do.
  • We don't draw real people, or anything scary, violent, rude, hateful or grown-up.
  • Names, gift messages and theme suggestions can't contain swear words or anything unkind.
  • Please use only the child's first name. Don't type surnames, addresses or other personal details into a free-text box.
  • We check what you type, with our own word lists and an automatic check described in our privacy policy. We may refuse anything we think isn't suitable, or suggest something close instead. If we refuse an order after you've paid, we'll refund you in full.
  • Please don't misuse the site: no trying to get round our checks or our locks, no automated copying or overloading, and no reselling or sharing Doodle Club outside your family. If someone does, we may suspend or close the account. We'll tell you why and refund any time you've paid for and not used.

Who owns what

  • Dood and the other characters, our drawings, colouring pages, stories, games, the My Doodle World name and this website belong to us or to people who license them to us.
  • You may print your PDF book as many times as you like for your own family, and give printed copies to friends and family for free. Please don't sell it, share the file online or use it in a business.
  • The pages we draw for a book stay ours. We may use the same scene in other books, but never with your child's name.
  • Your child's own drawings and colouring belong to your family. We use them only to run Doodle World and make what you ask us for, and we never show them to anyone else.
  • If you send us a theme suggestion or an idea, we may use it freely.

Our responsibility to you

  • If we break these terms or don't use reasonable care and skill, we're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result. Loss or damage is foreseeable if it's obvious it will happen, or if we both knew it might when you ordered. We're not responsible for loss or damage that isn't foreseeable.
  • We don't exclude or limit our responsibility where it would be against the law to do so. That includes death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, breaking your legal rights about what we supply (as described, fit for purpose, of satisfactory quality, and provided with reasonable care and skill), and defective products under the Consumer Protection Act 1987.
  • If something digital we supplied damages your device or other digital content because we didn't use reasonable care and skill, we'll repair the damage or pay you compensation. We aren't responsible for damage you could have avoided by following our advice or installing a free update we offered.
  • We supply what we sell for private, family use. If you use it for a business, we aren't responsible for any loss of profit, business or opportunity.
  • If something outside our control delays your order, such as a problem at our payment provider, printer or postal service, we'll tell you and do what we can to keep the delay short. If the delay is long, you can cancel and we'll refund what you've paid for and not received.
  • We work to keep the site and Doodle World running, but they may sometimes be unavailable for a short time, for example while we fix or improve them.

Changes to these terms

  • We may change these terms, for example when we add something new or the law changes. We'll put the new version on this page with a new date.
  • A one-off purchase is covered by the terms on this page on the day you paid.
  • If we change the terms for Doodle Club in a way that matters to you, we'll email you at least 30 days before the change applies. If you don't want to carry on, you can cancel before then.

Complaints and contact

  • If you're unhappy with anything, please email [email protected]. We reply within 2 working days and aim to have things sorted within 10 working days. You can also write to us at [[ADDRESS]].
  • If we can't sort it out between us, Citizens Advice (citizensadvice.org.uk) can give you free, independent advice, and you can take it to court.

The law and the courts

  • These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring legal proceedings in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland, you can bring them in Scotland or England and Wales. If you live in Northern Ireland, you can bring them in Northern Ireland or England and Wales.
  • If you live outside the UK, you also keep the protection of the consumer laws of the country where you live.
  • If a court decides that part of these terms can't be relied on, the rest still applies.
  • We may pass our rights and duties under these terms to another business. If we do, we'll tell you, and it won't reduce your rights.
